Called “the funniest farce ever written”, NOISES OFF presents a manic menagerie of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called Nothing’s On. Doors slamming, on and offstage intrigue, and an errant herring all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic play. The New York Times said of NOISES OFF: ‘The most dexterously realized comedy ever written about putting on a comedy. A spectacularly funny, peerless backstage farce. This dizzy, well-known romp is a festival of delirium.’ [Cast: 5 men, 4 women]
THE 39 STEPS
Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece wit a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have THE 39 STEPS, a fast paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! It’s packed with non-stop laughs, features over 150 zany characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of four,) an onstage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers and some good old fashioned romance. THE 39 STEPS amounts to an unforgettable evening of pure pleasure. [Cast: 3 men, 1 woman]
THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER
In this hilarious Christmas tale, a couple struggling to put on a church Christmas pageant is faced with casting the Herdman kids — probably the most inventively awful kids in history. You won’t believe the mayhem — and the fun — when the Herdmans collide with the Christmas story head on! This is one of the best Christmas stories ever — and certainly one of the funniest! [Cast: 4 men, 6 women, 8 boys, 9 girls]
DEATH OF A SALESMAN
The story revolves around the last days of Willy Loman, a failing salesman, who cannot understand how he failed to win success and happiness. Through a series of tragic soul-searching revelations of the life he has lived with his wife, his sons and his business associates, we discover how his quest for the “American Dream” kept him blind to the people who truly loved him. A thrilling work of deep and revealing beauty that remains one of the most profound classic drams of American theatre. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize. [Cast: 8 men, 5 women]
YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU
At first the Sycamore Family seems mad, but it is not long before we realized that if they are mad, the world is madder. In contrast to these delightful people, the unhappy Kirbys, whose son Tony falls in love with Alice Sycamore, have a most difficult time, filled with shock, when they come to dinner at the Sycamore family home to meet Alice’s parents. Tony will not give her up, after his parents barely make it through dinner due to the visit of an ex-Grand Duchess, Mr. DePinna’s fireworks factory in the basement, and the creative dancing of Essie accompanied by her husband Ed on the marimba. The capper is Grandpa’s interview with the tax collector when he tells him that he doesn’t believe in the income tax. It’s a wild and audacious comedy! [Cast: 10 men, 7 women]
